e-Reg
This is an "electronic registration system" that can be used by academics to record and monitor student attendance. The handheld unit connects via USB to any Windows(tm) computer and operates from on-board software - there is no software installation. It really is simply a matter of plug in and start recording.
Using Radio Frequency Identity (RFID) when a student card is held within its proximity the unit is able to check and record details with the systems on-line web service. The information is then available to link to other systems and provide additional services, such as electronically tracing and chasing absent students.
